Thoughts...

Good morning everyone!

This, is a very, VERY early morning blog post...

I could not for the life of me stay asleep tonight so I decided to re-vamp my blog. (I've only had it for 3 weeks and I'm already re-designing it...eek!)

I hope you all like it, let mw know in the comments section below what you think (keep it, change it back, change it to something completely different...). That being said, I invite you to always leave any comments on any of my blog posts if you do feel so inclined...I'd love some feedback!

I hope you all had a fabulous Christmas (or holiday celebration) and continue to enjoy your time with the people you love (friends, family, animals!, etc.). I for one still have a couple more (3) Christmas celebrations to go.

I leave you now with an amazing photo project HERE. It's called the "1010" project. 10 photographers, 10 photos each, all taken on October 10, 2010 (10/10/10). I hope you enjoy it!

Cheers!

Although I know I have some kinks to work out...I am me.

Hello folks!

I am SO excited about my new toys that I got tonight.
I realized while walking around Canadian Tire how much life really has changed in the past year or so...I was excited about looking for TOOLS! I found this prett multi-purpose tool set online the other night and my mamasita got it for me tonight...! I can't wait to put it to good use!!

isn't it pretty?!?!
Too bad I'll have to wait a few months before I can really work it in.

Hope you all had a great day, I'm gonna try to head to bed early toinght.

Cheers!

P.s. Finished my holiday baking today...chocolate confetti (a bar made with chocolate, peanut butter and marshmallows) and Sweet Marie bars (a bottom layer of rice krispies, peanuts, peanut butter and brown sugar with a chocolate layer on top)...SO delish!!!

Holy Baking Bonanza Batman!!!

It was so tough coming up with some form of alliteration for this title! (That didn't include "Betty" or "blue"...thanks White Christmas! :D ).

In any case...

Hello folks!

Tonight was a craaaazy night filled with TONS of holiday baking with my mamasita!
I documented the evening in photographs, enjoy!!

Dis is my mama!
Some of the 8 DOZEN (more than that actually) shortbread cookies we made! Yummmm!
 A BIG mess! teehee!
Our cookie press...only ONE of the designs really worked properly and the press was SO hard to use! By the end of it we gave up and just rolled the cookie dough into balls and pressed it down with a fork! Mum says "they're not as 'delicate' as they should be..." but who cares! It's COOKIES!!! :D
Recipes, old and new. Tonight we made salted caramels, chocolate bark and shortbread cookies. Tomorrow is fudge (possibly...) "Sweet Marie Bars" (a family classic) and chocolate confetti (MY childhood FAVORITE!)...p.s. that recipe book you see right below my computer screen is my moms. She's had it since she was like...21!
This is our marble chocolate bark. Half with crushed candy canes and the other half with slivered almonds.
My baby Titan!! He kept us company ALL night. We also had "The Devil Wears Prada" running on mom's computer in the background...it was weird. I remember starting it then what feels like 2 seconds later it was done! Time really does fly when you're having fun!
The salted caramels cooling in the pan...so freakin' delish!!
Mumsie hard at work wrapping allllll those caramels, we filled an ENTIRE long ziplock container thing...
 Yum, yum, YUM!

That's all for tonight folks! After all these pictures of sweet treats I shall send you off with a bit of a savoury website. Scanwiches is a really cool website I found tonight while reading A Cup of Jo these sandwisches look SO tasty it makes me hungry!!

I hope you all had a great day (and for those of you on winter break, I hope you're resting up well).

Cheers!!

Blessings...

Good evening to all!!

I don't even know WHERE to begin with this blog post. There is just SO much to say and just SO much excitement flowing through me right now!

Let's start at the VERY beginning (it's a very GOOD place to start...or so I hear...)

SO. Yesterday morning was our auditions for our April production of "Fiddler on the Roof" at the Brockville Arts Centre. Tickets are available ALREADY! Get them HERE!
I felt quite happy with my audition. And, really, I'd been preparing for it since April of LAST year...so I should freakin' hope I'd be ready!
In any case, it went well and all that was left to do was wait and see what came of it.
It was such a hard decision for me to choose whether or not to audition for this project. I have in fact chosen to go the production route with my career (and work backstage), but I thought it would be another great learning experience for me to know even better the performance aspect of theatre. I was especially happy with my decision to audition when the cast list was posted this afternoon and I found myself cast as Golde (more info on the show and character descriptions HERE). This was the character I auditioned for and am quite grateful for this opportunity I've been given to work with such amazing people as the peers I am surrounded by in my program. It felt great to know that my teachers believe that I can do this. (And congratulations to everyone, this will be a great show!)

Moving on to this afternoon I attended a final rehearsal for "A Community Christmas" (tickets available HERE or available at the door). The show is tomorrow (Saturday, December 18) evening at the Brockville Arts Centre and is featuring Chris Coyea (head of the music discipline at SLC) and Alex Fleuriau-Chateau (a vocal professor at SLC) and different groups from the Brockville community. I am fortunate enough to be able to assistant stage manage AND be in this show. It was such a great night of great company and AMAZING music. This show is going to be fabulous-a DEFINITE one NOT to miss!
After the show I went to dinner with Chris and Marianne (stage manager for the show) and a few of other people who are participating in the show for a lovely dinner. It's amazing the sense of community and family in Brockville. Perhaps I'm simply seeing the tight knit group that has blossomed from a common interest in music, but I just can't get over how welcoming so many people have been, especially to someone like myself who sort of just threw herself into the midst of all this production stuff!

I think it has really hit me in the past couple of days how so unbelievably blessed I am to be able to be surrounded by such amazing friends, and family and peers and colleagues. The people I find myself with or find myself talking to day after day are so talented and humble and genuine and generous... I can't help but think sometimes that I'm seeing things through rose coloured glasses. I'd like to take a minute to thank those people in my life (both family AND friends) who have been so open and loving to me. Although I may not always acknowledge it, please know that it doesn't go un-noticed. You have all influenced me so much.

Someone told me today that they like reading my blog because it's short and gets right to the point...SORRY! I realize this post has been somewhat (haha...right) longer than my normal posts but I felt so inspired to write tonight I just needed to put it all out there!

Thanks for bearing with me and continuing to support me and my blog!

Much love and thanks to ALL!

xoxo

Beauty in the evening...

Good evening everyone!

So, I was sitting here in my large comfy bed just browsing through my long list of different blogs I read. Yesterday, for the first time, I entered a contest on one of them (Cup of Jo). I went back today to see if I had one (and didn't in fact) but stumbled upon the blog of the person who did. Rebecca. I had never seen this blog before, but found interest in the second post I saw on her page. It linked to a YouTube video, THIS ONE to be exact, and I couldn't help but repost this beautiful song by Andrew Peterson called "Dancing in the Minefields". I had never heard of Andrew Peterson or this song but immediately knew I had to pass it along to the readers of my blog.

This song has such beautiful lyrics and made me wonder what comes over someone to write with such power. After reading some of the comments on the video I realized maybe it had more of a christian following then alot of mainstream music (maybe that's why I'd never heard it?) But the song made me think. It distracted me from whatever I was mulling in my mind and made me want to know that feeling he sings about.

Let me know what you think about it. I realize now that this is actually my first post about something I love. Wow...It's only taken me about a week!

In any case, I hope you all had a lovely day, I'm off to an early slumber before my long day of (voluntary) and (in)voluntary classes.

Cheers!

Although  I know I have some kinks to work out...I am me.

Another One Bites the Dust...

Good evening...MORNING...everyone!

I hope you've all been well.

I've been M.I.A. a bit lately due to "White Christmas" but I hope to get right back into it this week!

Here's a quick VLOG I whipped up this evening. And now, I'm off to bed!

Cheers!

102 Opening Nights!!

Let me just start off by saying, neither of the two aspects of the title of this post have anything to do with one another.

102...
That's how many pageviews I have!!!
I'm so excited to think people might actually be interested in what I have to say.
However, I do also think I may have gotten to 102 pageviews by viewing my blog to see how many pagevies I actually have (seeing how the blogspot "stats" button isn't working) as so hilariously pointed out one evening this week at the theatre...

Opening night!!
That's tonight!
This evening is our first official performance of "White Christmas". Tonight and Saturday night the "Kaye" cast will be performing and tomorrow evening and Sunday afternoon our "Crosby" cast will be performing. Both casts are so unbelievably talented, you would be lucky to see either one of them in action (and I feel so unbelievably lucky to work with ALL of them).
Tickets are now completely sold out for Sunday afternoon's performance but tickets are still available for tonight, tomorrow night and Saturday night performances. Get you tickets HERE!

So today is a fun filled day of catching up on sleep then heading to the theatre for 4. Lots of stuff to get done tonight before we open up the house at 7h30. SHARP!

I hope you all have a fabulous day and thank you again for ALL your support!

Although  I know I have some kinks to work out...I am me.

Whoa day!!

Oh. My. Goodness...

It is 6:50pm and I am HOME!!

It was quite a long day today.

This morning we had an invited dress rehearsal with approx. 600 elementary and highschool students and the performance was AMAZING! I'm so proud of all my peers and colleagues. This show is spectacular.
After the dress rehearsal we had a 4 hour note session.
Then, miraculously, we were sent home!!!

I can't remember the last time I was home this early, it feels amazing! This evening is dedicated to complete and utter relaxation. NO work is being done. NONE. My roomie and I are currently watching "One Tree Hill", just finished dinner and have a plethra of Bulk Barn snacks to last us allll night!

Tomorrow more work looms however. I have a page full of stuff that needs to be done by beginning of next week-laundry, house cleaning, groceries, etc. I have a visitor coming and I want to be prepared!

So, with that being said, I shall return to my FAVORITE show..."One Tree Hill", man I hope it gets signed on again for another season!!

Cheers!

P.S. here's a link to this morning's Vlog...there are alot of "um's"...it was early! ;)

Quick post!

Good evening all!

Just a quick post before I head off into sweet slumber (after of course a long awaited Skype call with Sunshine...who's being an ass right now! :D).

Today was a crazy busy day...arrival at the theatre for 9am which began with a costume parade (all the cast goes through every costume and they show it to the director/chreographer/production team...). After the costume parade we worked quick changes and scene changes followed by a dinner break then a full tech run of the show...lonnnnnng day!

Home at 11 and now talking to this jerkface...

Anywho, that's all for this evening!

Cheers!!

Although  I know I have some kinks to work out...I am me.

Home from the theatre

What's up everyone?

So I'm just home from the theatre now, it's been a pretty busy day! This morning we did a load in of all the sounds equipement (mic's, monitors, etc.) and set it all up.
The cast then arrived at 2 and we had a sitzprobe (essentially, the cast sits and sings along with the orchestra for the first time.)
While the sitzprobe was going on I got to be back in the booth watching our sound guy set up levels and stuff for the orchestra...SO COOL!!! So many buttons and knobs!! :)

I realize after writing that entire paragraph that a good majority of you (who am I kidding, that's totally wishful thinking on my part that people OTHER than my friends and family are reading this blog...)have no idea what show I'm talking about...

Well ladies and gents, the show is "White Christmas". The program I'm in at St. Lawrence College is mounting "White Christmas" as it's December show at the Brockville Arts Centre and we are LESS than a week from openening night (Thursday evening to be exact...).
Although I am in fact in the musical theatre program I have decided to go a different route with my career and pursue the technical side of theatre (more specifically Stage Management). I absoulutely LOVE seeing what goes on behind the scenes and knowing that so much of my hard work is being enjoyed by so many. That being said, instead of being onstage for "White Christmas" I am assistant stage managing. I've also been fortunate enough to work on sets and painting (also dabbling a bit in setup with lighting etc.) it has been such an enriching educational experience. I've assistant stage managed (and stage managed) shows before but I feel this time around I've gotten SO much more out of it.

If you're interested in seeing the show, get your tickets QUICK! They're almost all sold out. (Shameless promotion...I know...)Performances are Thursday, Dec. 9, 2010 at 8pm, Friday, Dec. 10, 2010 at 8pm, Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010 at 8pm and Sunday, Dec. 12, 2010 at 2pm. Get your tickets here: TICKETS!!

So, that's my schpiel for today, here's the accompanying Vlog

Hope you all had a great weekend!
Cheers!!

Although  I know I have some kinks to work out...I am me.

Good Sunday Morning!

Good morning everyone!

It's a busy day for me today, I'm off to the Brockville Arts Centre in about 45 minutes to start the day with a sound load in, followed by a sitzprobe  for the actor's.
I love days like these, filled with lots of, "theatre-ness"...it's a word...I've decided!

I'll post some more details about the show and what I'm up to with it this afternoon.

Have a good one folks!

Although  I know I have some kinks to work out...I am me.

A Vlog too?!

A Vlog and a blog both in the same day?! It's Madness!

Haha!

Here's my first EVER Vlog entry announcing my new blog...check it out! (And rate/comment/subscribe...why not?)

The First Post...

Wow!
I can't believe I've finally done it.

I've been reading blogs for years and never thought I'd have anything interesting to say. Maybe I still don't but I'm going for it anyways!

My mom is always sending me links to some really great blogs and I hope that maybe one day I have that same effect on other people...

This blog is my way of sharing things that I love, whether it be pictures, videos, recipes, other blogs, clothes, accesories, makeup...you name it, it will probably be on here!

Along with lists of things I love (including my love of lists...and alliterations...clearly!) I plan on documenting life itself.
As I said before, I may not be the most interesting person, but maybe somebody somewhere will be able to relate to my daily stuggles, achievements and experiences.

Thank you for coming on this journey with me.

Although  I know I have some kinks to work out...I am me.
